The litigation team of this major offshore firm is now looking to add a junior/mid-level associate with experience working in top tier firms in London or other major commonwealth centres. Those already offshore (or with direct offshore experience) are also naturally encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Work on multi-jurisdictional matters involving complex corporate structures, offshore trusts, and insolvency proceedings, often in collaboration with international law firms;
- Conduct detailed research on Cayman Islands law and common law principles relevant to commercial litigation, insolvency, trusts and regulatory disputes, and produce high quality analysis;
- Prepare accurate and concise legal memoranda to support case strategy;
- Assist in drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions, and correspondence for proceedings before the Grand Court and the Court of Appeal;
- Participate in document review and discovery processes;
- Assist in organising evidence and preparing hearing bundles;
- Support senior lawyers in managing client relationships, including preparing updates, attending meetings, and liaising with international counsel and other professional advisors;
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients and other team members;
- Contribute to internal legal updates, training sessions, and knowledge management initiatives within the dispute resolution team;
- Contribute to the management and professional development of paralegals, article clerks, interns and/or legal assistants;
- Make a constructive contribution to the culture and pro bono activities of the Ogier Group;
- Stay informed on developments in the practice areas of the dispute resolution team including Cayman Islands financial services regulation, sanctions, and anti-money laundering frameworks.
